Executive Dysfunction Toolbox is a project a team and I did for JHacks, a 24-hour hackathon event. The audience for this project was people with Executive Dysfunction disorders, such as ADHD, depression, anxiety, and memory problems.

I worked on the concept of the project, as well as the general design and layout. The main goal of the website is to be easy to use and approachable, while not in and of itself being distracting. It has four utilities currently, but it would be trivial to add more in the future.

The Study Aid is a tool to help with the Pomodoro Method, where you divide time into task time and break time. During task time, the screen is blank and doesn’t show a timer, but there is a notification when the time is about to end, so the user can finish whatever they are working on.

The Step-By-Step Tool allows a user to input tasks and times for long processes, in case they’re distractible or forgetful. The tool can read out the task for them, or show it on the screen, or both, and it will change after the allotted time ends.

The Reminder Tool will remind the user of an important task, quietly at first, then becoming more insistent as time goes on. Eventually, the tool will verbally tell the user to complete the task.

Finally, the Reading Aid allows users to input text, which will be centered on the screen, one word at a time. This reduces the strain on the eyes, and can actually increase reading speed for a lot of people.
